Wow, it sure don't seem like it's been this many years, but now I can say that hopefully you and my mom has met together and had some good talks in heaven. I miss all the talks me and Sherrie had about our moms. The joy of our life.

It's hard to believe she's been gone this long. Her good works, contributions, and impacts on friends, family, and community continue to flower. And it seems that her true goodness, like that of her dear late partner, Chester, becomes more evident with the passage of time. It's only one way that she continues to live on. And we are all grateful.

Dorothy left many seeds to germinate during her time here. Her love and generosity continue to sprout and grow even as she is physically gone. And that must be a part of life after death.

Her influence and legacy of kindness, devotion, and good humor continue to this day.  Her memory holds many together as did her presence during life. Through this even those who never knew her find inspiration and draw strength from remembering and honoring her.

Stories about Dorothy’s strong presence and continuing influence are still told and still heard. She was a wise and thrifty person who did not want to spend unneeded money-even on her own hearse!

Ms. Newton was a woman who grew throughout her entire life gaining wisdom, kindness, and sensitivity with each decade. She was attuned to the feelings and inner life of those around her and responded to them deeply. I only knew second hand but my life is richer, I am more courageous, and I have grown myself even with that distance. Dorothy's love and caring was extended to the world no only in her relationships but also through her family who cared for her so deeply, so thoroughly, and so completely to make her life the fullest that it could be. Her passing is such a loss to all of us and memories of her are treasures to the cherished.

Sherrie, Tim and Bob know that your mom is in the arms of God now with no more pain. She is one beautiful woman that God needed to come home to the Heavenly Father. Sherrie I will never forget the good talks that me and you had about our moms. The laughter and the tears together. Sherrie always remember that you did what needed to be done when it came time to help your mom out. You will never forget those precious memories. Oh, Sherrie if you need a mom to talk to sometimes you can always borrow mine. She loves to talk. Love to you all. God Bless each of you.

Bob, Janet, and family, I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Newton's death. Mrs. Newton taught my Sunday School class at First Baptist many years ago. She was a sweet and wonderful woman. I know she will be missed but just know she is now in a better place and at peace. May the Lord bless each of you and you are in my prayers.

Prayers are with the family during this difficult time. I will miss her smiling face when she was able to be at church. I will always remember her kindness shown to me in 1957 when Tim rode my school bus and at the end of the season she gave me a string of pearls. Another member of our Sunday School Class is now without pain and in the arms of their heavenly father.

Mrs. Newton was kind enough to allow me and some friends the opportunity to fish at her pond on numerous occasions over the past several years. I always enjoyed chatting with her before we started, and bringing her a little bakery treat. "You don't have to do that", she'd always say, "I know", I'd reply, "that's why I do it." Sherrie, her brothers, and Steve did so much to care for her, what a wonderful family!
